Hope for Cambodian Women
There are around 1 million garment factory workers in Cambodia. Garment workers are mostly young women who move away from their families to work long hours in poor working conditions. Moving to the factory areas away from their families puts the girls in a vulnerable position, making it easy for them to be tricked and taken advantage of. A survey revealed that about 66% of girls in the local sex industry had come through the factories first.
Garment factory workers have often quit school to come work in the factories and they feel no hope for their future. They often receive insurmountable pressure from their families to be a financial provider for the family
Hope for Cambodian Women Organization exists to see Cambodian garment workers both male and female, stand up for themselves know their values, live in dignity, hope and in the love of God. We seek to accomplish this vision through these core programs: EDUCATION, EMPOWERMENT and EVANGELISM, and to prevent them from falling into a life of abuse and exploitation.
Welcome

OUR BEGINNING
Hope for Women of Cambodia was started in 2013 by Sovannry and Sophorn. Nary grew up watching the factory workers go to work every day. After becoming a believer, God put it on her heart to reach out to the workers. The ministry started by Nary teaching English to one girl and her friends and has since grown to a ministry offering many classes from Wednesday to Sunday taught by a team of Cambodian believers who are former garment workers.
The Church, New Hope Fellowship, was born out of the evangelism program, where the new believers are nurtured and discipled.
